Coach Mickey Gollahon
I am 60 yrs old now and doing my best to train the youth baseball players what they need to know in order to get that Scholarship to College, play High School Baseball or even Travel Baseball. Being picked up during my Senior Year of High School by St. Louis Cardinals to play for their AA team the Arkansas Travelers out of Little Rock, AR, it was an experience I will never forget. During the Spring I played with their team and learned a great deal that I am now passing on to the young players so they will have the chance to do the same.

During the years following I Coached Recreational Baseball, Managed Travel Teams, tried it as an Umpire for a few seasons and was an Official Scorekeeper. But nothing is as satisifing as being a Trainer for our young players, watching them grow and perfect their skills to go on to College and even the Majors.

That is way I have started my own Professional Baseball Clinics and work 1-on-1 with individuals or with small groups of 6-8 players in a group. I have trained Pitchers in Travel Baseball and with that training their Win - Lose record improved by getting twice the amount of wins in one year as they have had in the last 5 yrs.

My Pitching Clinics are set up in age groups 13-14 under go the Basic Pitching Clinic first to get the Mechanics down and to develop the basic pitches and knowledge to use these skills. The Advance Pitching Clinics are set up for the 15-18 yrs. old group to perfect their Mechanics and to develop at least 4 new pitches to add to their list of pitches Mastered. As well as teaching them the Mental Aspects of Pitching, Locating pitches with accuracy, improving their speed, defending the mound, Controlling the game from the mound, etc. There are 5 Lessons lasting 2 hrs. each with a group or 1 hr. for 10 Lessons for Individuals in each Program. This is the way to go if your player wants to play Travel Baseball or High School Baseball. I will also teach them how to get the attention of the College Coaches without doing the Pricey "Perfect Game" or going somewhere like "The Ninth Inning", Rawlings Academy" or any of the others that charge you in the thousands for lessons and profiles. I do Team Training Clinics as well if you have a team already put together that you wish to improve on their abilities and proformance then set up a clinic for them. In the past year I have worked with Cities and Recreational Departments to conduct Clinics on Fielding and Batting with great success and thereby bringing back players that they had lost due to no good training and not enough interest in the old system of Recreational Baseball. Some Cities have seen increases in not only the number of players returning to the game but the number of teams they can now form due to the interest in the system now. This helps out the Recreation Department and City in income raised and interest in the City due to its baseball program. There was once said "Build it and they will come", everyone has heard this at one point in time right?

It is true, but just to build a baseball field is not enough. If you wish to fill that baseball park with players and fans, then you must Build the Players that the fans want to see as well. That is where I come in.

In my Clinics your players will become better at Fielding, Batting and Pitching, have more confidence in their abilities and will learn more about baseball than the average Recreational Coach can teach them. The players will have fund learning and be excited about playing the game of baseball once again. When the players enjoy it then the parents will enjoy it as well. That means more fans that come to games and purchase food and drinks from your food court vendors, more team merchandise from your fan shops and better attendance to your Events and Fundraisers for the organization. My son plays in Center Field and has always been good there. He was tired of just playing with the kids his own age and wanted to try to play with a team that was not made up of "Dads coaching their kids" so we ask Coach Gollahon to work with him on his fielding abilities so he could play on a better team. After the Fielding Clinic my son is now playing with the next age group up in his Recreational Baseball club and is playing in All-Stars and Travel Teams. The City decided that it would be a good idea to host a baseball clinic for the young players that registered every season to play baseball during the Spring and Fall. We contacted Coach Gollahon and contracted with him to conduct a clinic for our young players and it was the best decision we have ever made for our youth program. He put on a Fielding and a Batting Clinic for the players and they all enjoyed it so much. Each one of them registered to play again every season since that clinic and their abilities improved so much that they are excited about baseball every season. The price was very reasonable and the parents did not mind pay a few extra dollars for the clinic. Training a whole team at a time or even like we did training the entire age group at once is very cheap and will bring back players that have lost interest in the Recreational Baseball System.
